The town of Pinoso nestles in mountainous countryside covered in pine groves – hence its name. 450 metres above sea level, Pinoso is a thriving and prosperous town of just over 7000 residents. It’s famous for cultivating the Monastrell grape which thrives in the white limey soil of the vineyards you will see everywhere.
As well as wine, Pinoso is a source of rock salt, which is drawn from a local mountain and sent to nearby Torrevieja for processing.

The Alicante province produces over 25% of the total marble production of Spain and Pinoso produces over 97% of this amount, making the town prosperous.
